Introduction to the Jarl Sandin project
Jarl Sandin is a Swedish jewelry and watch retailer located in the heart of Gothenburg. The company has been operating since the 1950s and for nearly 70 years has helped customers select, create, and care for jewelry, gemstones, and watches. The company operates both physical stores and an online shop and is known for its high-quality craftsmanship and extensive selection.
Jarl Sandin needed a webshop that would have extremely fast loading times, smooth operation, and offer an excellent customer experience. To achieve these goals, the webshop was built with headless front-end technology.
The webshop now delivers high performance and an improved user experience. The primary goal was to implement a functional solution that enhances the webshop's usability.
Solution: Headless Front-End
Headless front-end is a website construction technique in which the user interface (front-end) is completely separated from the back-end system. This means that the back-end handles data and functionality, while the front-end is built separately and can be developed independently.
This technology allows the website’s user interface to be managed from separate servers worldwide, while the database is located in one place, in the case of Creamarketing, in Finland.
Thanks to this distributed infrastructure, the servers are not overloaded, and the site remains stable and fast even with multiple visitors accessing it simultaneously from different parts of the world. Additionally, a separate database enhances the site's security since the user interface does not directly handle sensitive data.
Even faster loading times and better user experience
The performance difference between the old and new Jarl Sandin webshop is significant in terms of both loading times and user experience. The old site had an average loading time of several seconds, causing noticeable delays, especially on mobile devices.
The new webshop loads in under a second, meeting the performance requirements of modern web services. The webshop’s search function has also been significantly improved: products are found instantly with no waiting time, further enhancing the user experience.
